Normalize being unapologetic about putting yourself first.
- Self Care Sunday *
In this day and age we are so used to expect from ourselves and others to be visible and available and accessible at “all times”.
So many, if not all social, personal and professional aspects happen in the virtual online world. Which makes it feel even more demanding.
We at times forget that we ourselves are beings and not things. And that constant outside focus is not beneficial to our overall health.
So many times have I seen online, people apologizing for taking a break from social media. Fuck, I have even done it myself. Often after having crossed multiple personal and especially mental health boundaries before that.
And this just does not feel right to me. Why is it that we feel the need to apologize for needing a break?
Being fully transparent here, I get it. Many have a platform for raising awareness, serving others, building a brand or a business. I get that, I too use my socials to serve and get my services out there.
Yet I too have my times that I cannot keep up with the grind culture, the toxic productivity and toxic positivity.
Since I last checked, we are not machines/robots. It is ok to take a break. It is necessary to rest. And you are allowed to be unapologetic about it.
?
What I want to say here is that: “In order for you to be your truest + highest self and be there for others, serve others, you have to take care of yourself first”.
The world can wait. Rest, recharge, refocus, reenergize, do whatever. We will be here when you are ready.
Much Love
K
